He that finds his life shall lose it; and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.
— Matthew 16: 25-26
Following the Lord is not easy. He never said it would be. But life with Jesus is far better than living without Him. Don’t believe me?
Let’s Blog About It!
Part III: The Unfathomable
The Lord showed me the lie. I had been deceived. And now He was giving me a choice: Choose ye this day whom you will serve.
Part II: The Fallen
My heart raced erratically. Knees buckled. Anguish flooded my body. His death created discord within me. I am generally composed when encountering unwelcomed news, but this time turbulence found me on the afternoon of May 8, 2023.
Part I: The Fallacy
I thought Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated facilitated good in the world and fostered sisterhood. So I accepted the invitation to join in 2009. On initiation day all was fine, until it was not. Walking into that solemn darkened room adorned with sacred ritual stuff sent me into a trance, literally.
Soror No More
When I joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in 2009, I was one loud and proud member. I was easily identified as an AKA by the sorority’s paraphernalia I wore instead of the follower of Jesus Christ that I am. But not anymore. The Lord opened my eyes and rescued me from the unrighteous covenant I made with AKA. Grateful: I am sharing my story to help fellow Christians do the same.
Back to School Public Service Announcement
I did not imagine it would be like this when I entered the field of education twenty-nine years ago. But this is my reality now. And one far too common for many educators.
Intentional Gratitude
Determined to thwart negativity, I set out on a journey of intentional gratitude for thirty days. What I discovered changed my life and the lives of those around me.
Assignment Understood
Sasha understood her earthly assignment of caring for our family during our greatest season of suffering. And she executed her duties with fidelity and love.
Pain Relief
No matter how you are stumbling through life, don’t give up. Relief is closer than you think.
A Leap of Faith
I suffered silently for years until my cry manifested in an attempted suicide. But life’s freefall doesn’t have to be fatal if we learn to pull the parachute.
It Was My Time
For weeks Kenny’s passing bothered me immensely. Even after a few months passed, the weight of his death failed to lift. That is until one day in July when God comforted me in a most tangible and wondrous way.
You Can Trust The Father
God has a perfect plan just for you and me. It may not make sense now, but with God, it always adds up!
How Quickly We Forget
God understands our anger, yet He still commands us to “be angry but sin not.” Trusting God to right the wrongs that have been done to us grants a sweet peace that only He can provide.
The Darkness Before Dawn
Once the dust settles from a traumatic experience, the pain infiltrates. Then the uncomfortable work begins.
Ugly Truths
Don’t let the pain and stigma associated with your traumatic events stop you from seeking the help you need. Don’t suffer in silence. Get help. Your mental health matters.
God Won’t Throw You Away
How many times have we disappointed, fallen short, and missed the mark? Immeasurable. Yet, God still loves us.
Clean Off Your Mirror
For as long as I can remember, people have told me who I am. Be it by positive affirmations to build me up or negative comments to tear me down. Life circumstances have done their share to contribute as well, especially with the recent deaths of my entire family. I have experienced it all. And I’m confident, I’m not alone. It’s enough to leave you searching for the truth of who you really are.
What Makes You So Strong?
What makes you so strong as you journey through life’s toughest trials and adversity?
Peace In The Valley
Life is hard but you can have peace in the midst of your suffering in Jesus.
We must be ready to allow ourselves to be interrupted by God.
— Dietrich Bonhoeffer
